FUNDING

NON-PROFIT STATUS:

The Blind Children’s Fund has been an IRS 501 c(3) non-profit since 1978. Please call us at (517) 488-4887 (and leave a message if needed) or email us at [email protected] if you need the IRS non-profit number for income tax donation purposes.

CURRENT FUNDING:

For many years, the Blind Children’s Fund was a member of the Independent Children’s Charities of America. This funding ran out in 2014. BCF is currently funded by private donations as well as several civic organizations. In order to continue operations to help the people we serve, we currently are seeking additional sources of revenue including individual donations and sustainable funding and grants.

FUNDRAISING AND SPECIAL EVENTS:

Special events — BCF hosts an annual fundraiser, An Interlude with Art, in the fall of each year. This silent auction fundraiser features fine arts and crafts by many of mid-Michigan best known artists and artisans, as well as goods and services or gift certificates donated by local businesses.

Special donations — From time to time, friends of BCF also donate tickets and other items to BCF with the express purpose of financial support for our mission. These special one-time donations are sincerely appreciated and information is offered on our Facebook page when such items are available. Be sure to “like” the Blind Children’s Fund on Facebook to receive additional information as it is available.

Memorial donations — Other recipients of services have also designated memorial donations to the Blind Children’s Fund. For additional information on considering BCF for a memorial designation, please contact [email protected] or call us at (517) 488-4887.

Friends of BCF — These volunteer friends help BCF to function in many different ways from helping out at fundraisers to becoming special contributors. If you would like to become a “Friend of BCF”, please write to us at [email protected] We will be happy to connect you with an activity of your choice that helps to advance the mission of the Blind Children’s Fund.
